Best PU colleges in Bangalore: how to choose.

The best PU colleges in Bangalore are not the ones that shout loudest. They are the ones that run your child's combination, show results with the numbers behind them, and put you in front of the teachers before you pay. Here are the nine questions to ask any of them.

The checklist

Nine questions for every college.

Take this list to each visit, ours included. Write the answers down so you can compare them at home.

  1. Which combination does your child want, and is it running this year?

    Ask
Ask for the list of combinations (PCMB, PCMC, PCME, SEBA, CEBA, MSBA) that will actually run in 2027-28, with the language options for each.
    Be careful if you hear
A brochure that names a combination the office can't confirm a section for.
  2. What do the results show, and how many students sat?

    Ask
Ask for the pass percentage with the number who appeared, then the entrance results (NEET, JEE, KCET, CA Foundation) as qualified out of appeared, year by year.
    Be careful if you hear
Only the toppers' names, or a percentage with no count behind it.
  3. Who will teach your child?

    Ask
Ask to meet the physics or accountancy teacher before you pay a fee. Ask how long the team has been together.
    Be careful if you hear
Teacher names promised for the website but not for the classroom.
  4. What is the fee, in writing?

    Ask
Ask for the fee sheet for your combination: what it includes, how instalments work, and what happens to a payment if you withdraw.
    Be careful if you hear
A booking amount asked for over the phone, or fees 'on request' with no sheet.
  5. How long is the commute?

    Ask
Do the trip once at 8 am. Ask which bus stop is nearest and how many minutes from your door.
    Be careful if you hear
A distance given as 'near' with no road or time.
  6. Is entrance coaching inside the timetable?

    Ask
Ask who teaches the JEE, NEET or KCET hours, how many a week, and whether the board syllabus and the entrance syllabus are planned together.
    Be careful if you hear
Coaching that sits outside school hours as a separate, extra commitment.
  7. What are the rules, and are they written down?

    Ask
Ask for attendance, phone, uniform and leave rules on paper, and how sick leave is handled.
    Be careful if you hear
Rules that are explained only after admission.
  8. What do current families say?

    Ask
Read the recent Google reviews, the 1-star ones first. Look for teacher names and for whether the college replies.
    Be careful if you hear
A rating built from a few bursts of reviews in the same week.
  9. Is it a recognised PU college?

    Ask
Check that the college is affiliated to the Department of School Education (Pre-University), Karnataka, and ask for the affiliation details.
    Be careful if you hear
A name that sounds like a university or a degree college without a PU affiliation.

Lists and rankings

Why we don't rank colleges.

Most lists of the best PU colleges in Bangalore don't say how a college got its place, and many are written by colleges about themselves, including this one.

What a fair comparison needs

  • The same year, the same combination and the number of students who sat.
  • Results in the college's own words, with a date, not a badge.
  • Fees written on one sheet, with what is included.
  • A visit to each college on a working day, not a Sunday open house.

Before you start

  • 1st PUC admission needs SSLC or an equivalent examination (Department of School Education (Pre-University), Karnataka: pue.karnataka.gov.in).
  • Decide the stream first (Science, Commerce, Integrated), then the combination, then the college.
  • Shortlist three colleges within a commute your child can keep for two years.

Questions

Questions about choosing a college.

Which is the best PU college in Bangalore?

There is no single answer, and we don't rank colleges. The best PU college is the one that runs your child's combination, shows its results with the numbers behind them, is a commute your child can keep up for two years, and has teachers you have met. Use the checklist above on every college you visit, including ours.

Which PU college in Bangalore is best for science?

Compare the combination (PCMB, PCMC or PCME), who teaches physics, chemistry and maths, and how entrance coaching fits the timetable. Ask for NEET, JEE and KCET results as qualified out of appeared. At Presidency Hebbal, Science and Integrated are taught on one campus.

Which PU college in Bangalore is best for commerce?

Look at the combination (SEBA, CEBA or MSBA), whether CA Foundation is in the timetable, and the accountancy and economics teachers. Ask for the previous year's commerce results with the number of students who sat.

What should I ask a PU college before paying a fee?

Ask for the fee sheet in writing, what it includes, the instalment dates, the refund rule if you withdraw, and the attendance and phone rules. No booking amount should be paid over the phone.

Who can join 1st PUC in Karnataka?

A student who has passed SSLC or an equivalent examination can seek admission to 1st PUC. Students from CBSE, ICSE and other boards may need an eligibility certificate from the Department of School Education (Pre-University); ask the college office which applies to you.

Is Presidency PU College Hebbal good?

Judge it the way you would judge any college: visit, meet the teachers, and read recent reviews, including the critical ones. Families most often name their children's teachers in their reviews. Our published 2026 board result was a 99.14% pass percentage, and our results page shows the figures year by year.
